The Journal was born in 1979, but its roots go back further to the 1960s and the Summer of Love. Like the Bay itself, the Journal endures as a bedrock source of Bay Area poetry, both political and lyrical, both deep and diverse. Bios of Haight Ashbury Literary Journal features: Nicole Henares currently writes as Aurelia Lorca- a poet motionless in the twist of time whose writing reassembles narratives from histories which have been forgotten as a way to remember. Colleen Shoshana McKee is the author of six books including Routine Bloodwork, her most recent poetry collection, which was a finalist for the Charlotte Mew Award from Headmistress Press. ColleenShoshanaMcKee.com Antoinette Vella Payne is inspired by people and events living this grand illusion of separateness while focusing on our connectedness. Her most recent poetry collection is titled This Fortuitous Fraction of Time. Gregory Pond, born in Brooklyn to Panamanian parents, has written four books of poetry. He hosts 3rd Saturday Poetry in Chinatown, facilitates Poetically Speaking, and curates events for Queer Rebels. César Love, author of three collections of poetry, is a Latinx poet influenced by the Asian masters.
