Let The Beast Begin!Oakland's longest continuing literary festival, Beast Crawl, announces its return. An evening of dynamic and free literary pop-up readings will celebrate its 12th year on Saturday, July 27th, 2024.
Beast Crawl Literary Festival (BCLF) offers center stage to marginalized writing communities by democratizing the mercurial world of contemporary literature and publishing. Whether you're new to the Beast or already know and love this fierce, feisty festival celebrating the literature, music, performance, art, and people of Oakland, we want to hear from you. Reach out, register, find out all the ways you can help bring the Beast to life in Oakland's streets, small businesses, and community spaces this July. Venues, curators, poets, performers, and fellow lovers of literature and life, get to know us and let us get to know you. Apply to curate one of the shows, find out how you can lend a hand, and help build the best Beast yet. This festival is truly a celebration of Oakland and the people who work here and call it home. We're looking to create strong and lasting partnerships with local businesses, community groups, and organizations in Downtown Oakland, the Oakland Black Arts District, and Old Oakland. Own a small business, bar, or café? Offer your space as a venue and let the vibrant literary scene bring business to you. Involved with local civic groups, community organizations, or governance? Introduce us! Let's find ways BCLF can help forge connections and facilitate new collaborations. Bring us your ideas for curating, bring us your musical performers, bring us your volunteers! Tap your interests and strengths and get invaluable real-life resume-building work experience—we'll train. On the West Coast? In or near CA? Got connections to the Bay Area, Oakland, the East Bay? Follow this page, share this post, watch this space—there's much more to come. Can we count you in? Just click this button and fill out the form. We can't wait to hear from you. |
